SST Model Harlem Stone

The Harlem Stone is a special Neck. This model is currently only available for tenor saxophones.
This model was developed on the basis of the old Selmer MVI Necks.
This means that Harlem Stone produces a good sound center for a warm and carrying tone.
The Harlem Stone is related to the TN1.
What is the difference between the Harlem Stone and TN1?
In contrast to the TN1, Harlem Stone delivers a rather sonorous sound with fewer overtones, which is more suitable for jazz, big band, etc.

The sound characteristics of the Harlem Stone at a glance

    • Strong sound center
    • produces a very open and direct sound
    • reproduces the entire spectrum of low, mid and high frequencies (very strong mid-range)
    • Lively and warm sound
    • Great sound depth for a strong surround sound
    • Very high game dynamics
    • offers the player excellent control
    • for the best performances in various musical styles. Particularly suitable for jazz, big band etc.

Who did we build the Harlem Stone for?
The Harlem Stone was built for any player, professional or non-professional, with high standards in a variety of musical genres, except classical.
We have developed the New Standard series for saxophonists who play classical music alone.
You can read about the advantages it offers for classical saxophonists under SST Neck Series New Standard.

Harlem Stone in combination with old Selmer MVI, BA or SBA saxophones
The Harlem Stone offers players of these old, very good saxophones a completely new alternative or perspective.
While the original old Selmer Necks produce a more flugelhorn-like tone, the Harlem Stone delivers a more trumpet-like sound, more open and direct
in contrast to closed and “cloudy”.

Harlem Stone in combination with all other saxophone brands
For all current saxophone makes, including all makes and models from the past that are not old Selmer saxophones, the SST S-bows are essential.
With a relatively small investment (compared to buying a new instrument), players can convert their saxophone with an SST Neck so that they don't just get a “new” saxophone.
You can modify your saxophone in such a way that you get many times more SOUND VALUE. You can install the important standards in your saxophone that we have already written about here.
If you are planning to buy an instrument, please ask us in advance about the possibilities of upgrading your existing instrument. In most cases, you will not have to buy a new instrument.
If you are planning to buy an instrument for the first time, it is best to plan the additional purchase of an SST Neck!

1. make sure you buy an instrument that is technically stable
2. make sure that the new instrument is easy for you to use
3. the price: In principle, it doesn't matter whether you buy an instrument costing several thousand euros or a much cheaper instrument. With an SST Neck, you can bring both the expensive and the much cheaper one to the same level.
