Ted Nash and the NEW SST Neck Model MTD 8

KONSTANTIN RIEBESAM ON APRIL 9, 2025

TED NASH is a top-class American jazz saxophonist and composer.

His album Presidential Suite: Eight Variations on Freedom was awarded in 2017 with two Grammys Awards.

Today we are pleased to announce that Ted Nash plays the SST Neck Model Matador 8 from our NEW Matador Neck Series and has given his reference.

In the following video he plays three Necks in comparison.

On his Selmer MVI tenor saxophone he first plays the original MVI Neck, then the new SST Neck MTD 8 and finally an older SST Neck of the Old French Model.

Hear for yourself what he has to say about the new MTD 8 model!

In this video, we mainly want to show how the MTD 8 Neck differs from the MVI Neck and how both Necks are the same.

Both Necks are very easy to play and deliver a full-bodied sound with depth of tone, warmth, carrying power and high dynamics. The Selmer Neck delivers a very characterful, classic jazz sound. The sound is rather overcast, dark and flugelhorn-like. The sound of the MTD 8 model is much more open and direct, with a quick response. The response is more like that of a trumpet.

The Model 8 was developed for musicians who are looking for a clear, open and direct sound with very good projection. The Model 8 is best suited for classical music and musicians looking for a more clear and open, more clearly defined sound.

The new Matador Necks are available for alto and tenor saxophones.
